Referral Procedure Administrative Rules

The Referral Book will be available to sign from the hours of 8:00am through 3:30pm Monday through Friday (excluding Holidays) in the Union Office.

​

Each applicant for hire is required to personally sign the “Out of Work Book”. Initial sign – in may require, where applicable, a signed letter of introduction from their home local Business Manager.

​

Each applicant who has registered on the “Out of Work Book” must renew his application monthly beginning on the 10th and ending on the 16th of each month. The Business Manager, after proper notice, may require applicants to re-sign in person no more than once in a calendar year to maintain eligibility on the “Out of Work List” after their initial signing. Re-Sign may be accomplished by signing in person, e-mail, faxing a copy of his or her Name, address, home Local #, and IBEW Card #, or if not a member a drivers license or government approved ID, and list what is his or her classification is. Faxes and e-mails must have a date when Local 245 received the faxes and e-mails.

A current Referral List will be maintained for each classification.

The current Referral Lists will be updated the 1st working day of each week.

​

Each applicant for hire will be allowed to turn down 2 job opportunities without penalty and be completely taken off the book for a third turndown. You must re-register in person after being rolled off. Note: Being unavailable for referral when work would have been offered to the registrant shall be considered a turndown. Rejection of the applicant by an employer is not a turndown.

Individuals who receive two (2) discharges for cause with-in a twelve (12) month period will be suspended from future referral privileges until they appear before the Appeals Committee for a determination as to their continued eligibility for referral.

Be advised that the Business Manager is responsible to fill calls in a timely manner as needed by the employers. This means in an emergency, referral may have to be made outside normal business hours using whatever means are available to fill calls and place registrants.
 

Effective June 1, 2012
