Position Summary
The Traffic Controller is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic in and around designated work zones. This position ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations and supports operational efficiency by coordinating traffic movement, setting up control devices, and communicating effectively with work crews and the public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor traffic control plans in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Set up, position, maintain, and remove traffic control equipment, including signage, cones, barricades, and flagging devices.
- Direct the movement of vehicles, equipment, and pedestrians using approved hand signals, verbal communication, or two-way radios.
- Maintain continuous situational awareness to identify and respond to changing traffic conditions or safety risks.
- Communicate hazards, incidents, or operational concerns to supervisors promptly and accurately.
- Collaborate with construction teams, project managers, and external partners (e.g., law enforcement, municipal agencies) to support safe worksite operations.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local traffic control regulations and safety protocols.
- Complete required documentation, logs, or reports related to traffic control activities and incidents.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to remain attentive, alert, and responsive in high-activity environments
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, life equipment, and work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
